Privacy Policy — Burmly

Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 28, 2026

Burmly (www.burmly.com) is a free puzzle game platform. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and what your rights are. We aim to be brief and direct — if something is unclear, email us.

What we collect

Leaderboard scores (voluntary)
When you choose to save a result to the leaderboard, we store: the nickname you enter, your score or time, the game name, difficulty, and a timestamp. This is the only data we store on our servers. Providing a nickname is completely optional — you can always skip saving.

Browser storage (local only)
We use localStorage in your browser to remember: your theme preference (light/dark), your best times per game, and your last-used nickname. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used — page views, session duration, device type. IP addresses are anonymised. No cross-site tracking. You can opt out via the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

What we do not collect

Who processes your data

Supabase — leaderboard scores are stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Supabase on servers in EU-West (Ireland). Supabase is a GDPR-compliant processor. Supabase Privacy Policy →

Google Analytics — anonymised usage data. Google Privacy Policy →

Netlify — the site is hosted on Netlify, which processes server logs. Netlify Privacy Policy →

Legal basis (GDPR)

For leaderboard scores: consent — you actively choose to submit a score and enter a nickname. You can skip this at any time.

For Google Analytics: legitimate interest — understanding aggregate usage patterns to improve the site. Data is anonymised and does not identify individuals.

Data retention

Leaderboard scores are kept indefinitely to maintain the leaderboard history. If you want your scores removed, email us with your nickname and we will delete them within 72 hours.

Browser localStorage data stays until you clear your browser data.

Your rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to: access your data, correct it, have it deleted, and object to processing. Since we only store voluntary nicknames and scores, exercising these rights is straightforward — email us.

Children

Burmly does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The games contain no content unsuitable for any age. If you believe a child has submitted data, contact us and we will remove it immediately.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. We will not retroactively reduce your rights without clear notice.
